Pioneers of pop funk, A Certain Ratio have influenced many generations of musicians with their unique sound, where avant-garde funk, jazz and electro meet pop music. The band will perform for its only Italian date of the summer tour; born in Manchester in 1978 during the years of post-punk, the band stands out with a new sound where electronics melt with pop. These innovations become soon inspirations also for artists such as Talking Heads, LCD Soundsystem, Happy Mondays, Franz Ferdinand, ESG, Factory Floor and Andrew Weatherall. Although A Certain Ratio changed formation several times during the past years, the central core has stayed the same, with Jeremy Kerr, Martin Moscrop and Donald Johnson, as well as their unique and eclectic sound described by the band as ‘‘James Brown on acid’’.
